What is Tableau?

Credentials and Connection Details

You need the following information to connect Tableau with Improvado Clickhouse Database:

Connection parameter	Credentials
user	```improvado_CustomerID_db```
port	```443```
host	```db-access.improvado.io```
SSL	```require```
database	```improvado_CustomerID_{db_id}```

Replace ```CustomerID``` with the ID that you can find on the Visualization page.

Example: ```improvado_1234_{db_id}```

Connection Description

Step 1. Download the latest version of the Clickhouse JDBC driver (version ```0.3.2-patch8``` required) from Clickhouse GitHub and place the ```clickhouse-jdbc-0.3.2-patch8-shaded.jar``` to:

macOS: ```~/Library/Tableau/Drivers```
Windows: ```C:\Program Files\Tableau\Drivers```‍

Note: If this folder doesn't already exist, you'll need to create it.

Step 2. Download the latest TACO connector ```clickhouse_jdbc_<version>.taco``` from the Releases page and place it to:

macOS: ```~/Documents/My Tableau Repository/Connectors```
Windows: ```C:\Users\[Windows User]\Documents\My Tableau Repository\Connectors```

Step 3. Open the Tableau Desktop app and choose the ClickHouse JDBC by ANALYTIKA PLUS in the Tableau Settings section.

Step 4. Fill in your credentials from the Improvado connection settings page.

Step 5. Select the Advanced tab, and enter the following custom parameter for JDBC Driver: ```join_use_nulls=0```.

Step 6. Press the Sign In button.

Step 7. After a small loading, you should see a new Tableau Workbook. Click the Search icon, then click the Load button, to see all the tables in this database.
